In order to optimise the returns on the considerable investment to be made in its owned Jatropha groves Viridas has established a trial grove in North East Brazil.
Jatropha has never before been grown in an organised, structured manner to produce crude oil for the manufacture of Biodiesel. The evaluation Viridas is now carrying out is to ensure the optimal development of the crop as a sustainable feedstock including improved planting, oil extraction and transportation.
An essential prior step in the cultivation of large scale Jatropha groves is measuring the key characteristics of seed and yield performance together with disease and insect resistance. |
